We were contracted to do player development for the Arkadia Traiskirchen Lions, a 1st Division team in the Austrian Bundesliga. The Lions progressed to the league semi-finals in the 2008-09 season and hope to advance further this season. They have some of the best young talent in Europe. It was that young talent that prompted the Lions to bring in Don Kelbick.
Traiskirchen is located about 30 minutes south of Vienna. In addition to having high hopes, the Lions are also the youngest team in the league. They are led by Benni Danek, point guard on the Austria National Team and Djordje Drenovac, a 17 year old Serbian phenom. The Lions are hoping that American talent, Terrence Roderick who played college basketball at UAB will put them over the top.
The Lions spend the morning hours in intensive skill work with Don Kelbick and putting those skills to work in spirited practices with outstanding coach Andrea Maghelli in the evening.
